La Torre di Pietraia è una delle torri più piccole presenti a Vicopisano (14 m) e prende il nome dalla zona di Vico in cui si trova. La torre presenta caratteristiche più antiche rispetto alle altre torri.

È infatti caratterizzata da una massiccia muratura in verrucano, pianta quadrata, e da un solo portalino di accesso verso il ballatoio esterno con ancora presenti le quattro mensole monolitiche.

Il suo aspetto tozzo è accentuato dal fatto che la torre è stata sicuramente mozzata di un paio di piani.

La datazione di questa torre si può far risalire al XII sec.

La posizione molto prossima alla sommità del colle e l'allinemaento con la torre adesso inglobata nel Palazzo Pretorio ci può far supporre che essa poteva far parte della fortificazione del primitivo castello di Vicopisano.

Il fatto che la torre sia mozzata e assai prossima all'area della Rocca, potrebbe farla identificare con la Torre di Ser Fino Boncetani posta in Pietraia, di cui fu appunto ordinata la mozzatura nel 1439, quando si stava costruendo la rocca del Brunelleschi.
